Rebecca Boone Baggett, age 74, of Smithfield passed away on June 2, 2018 in the SECU Hospice House. Born in Johnston County on August 22, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James Joshua Boone, Jr. and Ethel Thompson Boone. Rebecca was a lifelong member of Centenary United Methodist Church is Smithfield, the same church that her grandfather pastored many years ago. She was employed as a substitute Teacher in the Johnston County Schools System and later was a Manager at the Fieldcrest Store and also worked at the Bank of Four Oaks and KS Bank. By far her favorite and most important job was that of being a stay-at-home mom.
A memorial service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 7, at 3:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma Wednesday night from 6 to 8 PM. The burial will be private.
Surviving are her husband, M.T. Baggett; Son Jimmy Baggett and wife Jill of Smithfield; daughters, Jennifer Rabil of Smithfield and Gayle Baggett of Raleigh; brothers, James Thompson "Tommy" Boone and wife Camille of Smithfield, William Thaddeus "Buck" Boone and wife Victoria of South Carolina; and grandchildren, Will and Lane Baggett, Jacob, Boone and Rebecca Sasser, and Caitlyn Stallings.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SECU Hospice House, make checks payable to Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577.
