Rebecca Josey Simpson

Rebecca Josey Simpson, 17, died at home in her sleep Friday, February 23, 2007, from complications due to Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
Rebecca was born May 8, 1989. She attended North Raleigh Christian Academy and graduated from there on February 23, 2007 as Salutatorian. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Honors SATB Ensemble and Choir, the International Thespian Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the NRCA Honors Dance Company. She performed the role of Meg in Little Women during the Fall of her senior year and participated in the 2007 ACDA All State SSA Chorus. She was looking forward to singing in Carnegie Hall this Spring with the NRCA Ensemble. Diagnosed in March of 2003, Becca was an active volunteer and spokesperson for the NC Children's Hospital where she received treatment and loving care.
The family is most grateful to the countless people and organizations who have provided love and gifts too numerous to mention. Please accept their special thanks to the many of you who shared the love of Christ in so many special ways with Rebecca and her family.
Rebecca is survived by her parents, Jeff and Emmaline; her sister, Emmaline Vinson; and her maternal Grandma Emmie, as well as uncles, aunts, and cousins.
A private family service of entombment will be held Wednesday morning, February 28, 2007 and a Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held that afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 301 East Whitaker Mill Rd, Raleigh.
A reception for family and friends will be held after the Service of Witness to the Resurrection at Wake Forest Presbyterian Church, 12605 Capital Boulevard, Wake Forest.
In lieu of flowers, Rebecca requested that donations be made to the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Trust Fund, Attn: Dr. Julie Blatt, Gravely 3314, Campus Box 7220, UNC School of Medicine, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7220 or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Arrangements were made through the Cremation Society of the Carolinas.
