Rebekah Lucas Obituary

Mrs. Rebekah Carter Lucas, 90, died peacefully at her home Thursday, November 29, 2007 surrounded by her loving family.
Rebekah was born in Elm City, on June 16, 1917 to the late Fred and Sallie Carter. She completed grade school in Elm City and continued her education at Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, where she received her BA degree. Rebekah was a music lover, played the violin and enjoyed classical music through her last hour.
After completing college, Rebekah married Osborne S. Lucas of Lucama, NC and the two made their home in Raleigh, until his death in 1988. Rebekah and Osborne were both loyal fans and longtime supporters of the NCSU athletic program. Rebekah continued to reside in Raleigh until 2002 when she moved to Wilson to live with her son, Barry Lucas and his family.
Rebekah was a lifelong member of Fairmont United Methodist Church in Raleigh and one of the two remaining members of her original Sunday School class.
She is survived by her son, Barry and wife, Teresa of the home and one granddaughter, Sarah of Greenville, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St. Mary's Street in Raleigh with a graveside service immediately following at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1604 Forest Hills Road, Wilson, NC 27893.
