Rex was a positive person with a desire to make a difference. His work with historic properties was challenging and he approached it with passion and a sense of humor. He was a good man. My condolences to the family.

Mary Lou, we share in your loss at this time. You and the family are in our prayers. Rachel loves you and Rex so very much and we are all broken hearted. Rachel spoke so highly of you and Rex & enjoyed her time spent at your home. Thank you so much for the brief time she was able to live there with you guys! What an awesome and kind thing you and Rex did for Rachel in allowing her to move in. I know this was only one of the many benevolent acts that you and Rex extended not only to my daughter but to so many in the community. Rex will certainly be missed and I know that in the darkest of times, our Father in heaven continues to sit on the throne and will stretch forth his healing hand of comfort to you and the family. With the deepest of love we all continue to send love and prayers. Please call upon our family at any time. In Christ Love

Rex was a fraternity brother of mine at UNC Chapel Hill. My wife and I just got to know him and Mary Lou at the fraternity reunions the past several years. I sat before him in awe at the character traits that made him a great man and beloved to those who knew him better and longer than me ---- humility, humor, intelligence, giving, loyalty, discipline, hard work, a quiet faith, ----- the list goes on. May God grant Rex a favored place in his Kingdom for a life well lived and provide comfort to Mary Lou and family....Mort & Melania Herald
