Cary

Richard Dean Hinkley, Sr. of Cary, NC, passed away peacefully at his home on May 24th, 2016.

A celebration of his life will take place at 1:00pm, Sunday June, 12th at Wake Memorial Park, (Mausoleum) 7002 Green Hope School Rd, Cary, NC 27519. Pastor Donnie Peters will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials and/or donations can be made to The American Cancer Society. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of his life at 100 Knotts Valley Lane Cary, NC 27519 afterwards from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm following the memorial.

Richard was born April 12th, 1933 in Endicott, New York and moved to Irvington, New Jersey in his early years. He joined the Air Force after graduating from Irvington High School and served overseas during the Korean War. Upon returning home, Richard married the former Ms. Mary Santa Tittel of Newark, NJ and joined Bristol-Myers Co. where he was employed in the maintenance department. He and family left Newark for Springfield NJ to raise their children. Having worked his way into management, he relocated to North Carolina in 1979 to help oversee the opening of a new plant facility in Morrisville. Richard worked for Bristol-Myers Company (now Bristol-Myers Squibb) for 37 years before retiring.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hinkley; three daughters, Debra Frank and her husband Ed, Susan Millhouser and her husband Brian, Judy Bateman and her husband Paul; and one son, Richard Dean Hinkley, Jr. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren, Kerry Hinkley, Amber Hinkley, Olivia Hinkley, and Richard Dean Hinkley III and a great grand-daughter, Aria Taylor.

Richard will be remembered as a loving husband, great father and war veteran. He will be dearly missed.
