Richard Juberg Obituary

Dr. Richard G. Juberg, 53, of Dunn died unexpectedly Thursday morning at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin. His mother, Ellen Jane Juberg, predeceased him in July of 1999.
In 1970 he graduated from San Diego State Collegewith a Bachelor of Science Degree. He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam as a pilot, was one of the youngest Aircraft Commanders and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. After receiving his Doctorate from ECU School of Medicine in 1982 he joined the U.S. Navy to do his residency in OBGYN until 1987, then went to Duke University where he served his residency in family medicine.
He was a member of The American Academy of Family Physicians and became a Fellow in 1999, also a member of The American Board of Family Practice where he was a Diplomat from 1990 to 2002. He participated as a silver sponsor for Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital Children's Health Program from 1992 to 2001. He was an associate professor for the School of Pharmacy at Campbell University. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church he served as an elder and a Sunday School teacher. He served as the team physician for Triton High School for many years and was a major contributor to the athletic program as well as other programs.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church by Dr. David Sherrod.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Ann Juberg of Dunn; two daughters, Betsy and Molly Juberg of the home; his father, Gerald "Jerry" Juberg of Dunn; and a sister, Carol Hutto of San Diego, CA.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at his residence. The family asked that memorials be made to The Juberg-McCaskill Scholarship Fund, Triton High School, 215 Maynard Lake Rd., c/o Barbara Jones, Erwin, NC 28339.

Worked with him in the GYN service in the Navy. He always had a bit of the "nick" in him. I enjoyed him. I'll miss him. Condolences to his family.
