January 6, 1935 - October 28, 2021
Raleigh, North Carolina - Robert Carlton "RC" Fields, Jr., 86, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021 after complications from a stroke on October 17, 2021. He was born at home on his grandfather's farm in Johnston County on January 6, 1935 to the late Robert Carlton Fields, Sr. and Violet Bond Fields. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1954 and was a member of the marching and dance bands. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Business from East Carolina College in 1958. He and Susan, wife of forty-eight years, were married in 1973. They eventually moved to Raleigh and built a home in 1978 where they still reside. RC loved music, barbershop singing and was a fifty year member of the society. He also loved classic cars, Carolina basketball and traveling. RC retired as an accountant with North Carolina State University.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service & Crematory, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale.
The family will receive relatives and friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
A private burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving: wife Susan O'Brien Fields; son, Robert "Bobby" Carlton Fields III of Raleigh; granddaughter: Samantha Steinman; great granddaughter, Merit Steinman both of Knoxville, TN; brother, Billy Fields and wife, Carolyn of Smith Mountain Lake, VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
