Robert Black Quinn, Sr.

Robert Black (Bob) Quinn, Sr. age 81 of 9525 Car-Kare Drive passed away on April 15, 2014 at Wake Med. Bob was born in Duplin County on December 19, 1932 to the late Thomas Washington Quinn and Viola Williams Quinn. He graduated from B. F. Grady High School and went on to serve his country as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U S Army. Bob worked with GMAC in Kinston for ten years. He became a partner in Zebulon at J & M Chevrolet and later owned his own business as Bob Quinn Chevrolet in Wake Forest. Bob has always been very active in the Zebulon Lions Club where he was recognized as a Melvin Jones Fellow and Zebulon Baptist Church where he served on various committees. He was most proud of being on the Pastor Search Committee that brought Jack Glasgow to Zebulon Baptist Church. He never knew a stranger and had friends far and wide. Bob was a dedicated family man and will be greatly missed.

A service to celebrate his life will be 11:00 AM on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Zebulon Baptist Church 400 Arendell Avenue, Zebulon. 27597. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, 809 West Gannon Avenue, Zebulon with Military Honors.

Surviving wife of 56 years, Edith Duncan Quinn, Son: Robert Black (Robbie) Quinn, Jr. "Kathy" of Zebulon, Daughter: Karen Quinn Glasgow "Wayne" of Macon, Ga.. Grandchildren: Paul, Garrett and Austin Quinn and Ann Glasgow. Sisters: Winifred Q. Vereen of Columbia, S.C., Betty Quinn of Jacksonville, Brother: Jimmy Quinn "Linda" of Riegelwood, NC. Sisters-In-Law: Alice Quinn of Smithfield, Louise Quinn of Hayes, Va.. Several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brothers: Thomas and Allen and sister Wilma Allen.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday evening, April 17, 2014 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale and other times at the home.

The Quinn family has suggested that memorial contributions be made in Bob's memory to Zebulon Baptist Church.

Sending heartfelt sympathy & prayers to this family at this time. Mr. Quinn was "one of a kind" & such a caring man! I can't ever remember seeing him when he didn't have a smile on his face & a kind word. He was one of my Dad's best friends. Love to all of your family??
