Robert Vogel Obituary

Robert D. Vogel

Robert D. Vogel, 78 of rural Kiel died Saturday evening August 30, 2014 at his home following an illness. He was born August 2, 1936 in Milwaukee, son of the late Frank & Esther (Eigenheer) Vogel. Bob attended Albert E. Kagel School in Milwaukee until his sophomore year. He moved to Kiel and was a 1954 graduate of Kiel High School.

Bob proudly served for six years in the National Guard. On May 19, 1962 he was united in marriage to Janice Menza at St. Ann Catholic Church in Francis Creek. Bob and Janice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2012.

Bob was a dedicated employee of Lake-to-Lake. He was also an active member of the Teamsters Union serving as Steward for many years. After more than 40 years with Lake-to-Lake he retired in 1997.

He was a former member of the Louis Corners Sno-Birds, a long time member of the NRA and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors and was involved in all kinds of hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed the time he could spend at Wilke's Lake.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Janice, his children; Mark (Amy) Vogel, Wayne Vogel, Peter (Cheryl) Vogel all of rural Kiel, Frank Vogel (Liz and her son Ethan), New Holstein, Nancy (Jim) Augustine, rural Kiel, Ann (Jamie) Duchow, Sherwood. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; Reilly, Abigail, Tessa & Thomas Vogel, Daniel, Sarah, Rachel & Paul Vogel, Clare Vogel, Zachary Vogel, McKenna, Gretchen & Madeline Augustine, Tyler & Jackson Duchow. Bob is further survived by a sister; Mary Ann Jordan, Sheboygan, along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Audrey Vogel, Hedy Hill, Wayne Menza, Richard (Linda) Menza.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother; Frank, brothers; Kenneth, Marvin (Betty) Vogel and two daughters-in-law; Michelle & Mary Vogel.

Funeral Mass for Bob will be held at 11:00am on Thursday September 4, 2014 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 11928 Marken Rd. Kiel, (School Hill) with Rev. Patrick Nelson and Deacon James Steffen officiating. Cremation has taken place and burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:30am until the time of mass.

A memorial has been established in Bob's name.
