Ryan Pilz Obituary
Raleigh
Ryan John Pilz, 40, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle against cancer. He was born in Raleigh, NC on October 18, 1976. He moved to Boise, ID when he was 6, and then to Charlotte, NC when he was 17. While attending North Carolina State University he first connected with a restaurant named Ruckus. This connection transitioned into a career that grew into a partnership which created five successful Raleigh area restaurants. Ryan's natural persona was instrumental in creating the magic that made Ruckus a destination for great food and memorable times.
Ryan brought joy and fun to all with his infectious laughter and outgoing personality. His passion was people, and helping others in need. He invested countless hours in making lives better for those he knew and many he did not know. He was a ray of sunshine, known throughout Raleigh as a kind-hearted, philanthropic beacon in the community. Ryan's relentless commitment to helping others included coordinating and organizing events to help raise significant funds for many local and national charities. Some of these include St. Baldricks, Raising a Ruckus, 1 in 9, LUNGe Forward, Cocktails and Couture, the Holt Foundation and Bridge the Gap Annual Backpack drive.
Family was the most important aspect of Ryan's life, and his priority was to spend time enjoying them and create endless memories. He is survived by his loving wife Amy, daughters Sophia and Adalyn, parents Robert and Patrice, brother Christopher and his wife Annie, their children Owen & Isaac, brother Spencer and his partner Elizabeth Fournier, their son Tayton, grandmother Christine, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. There are countless friends who benefited from knowing Ryan and will cherish his profound influence on their lives. His mere presence made every moment more enjoyable and he was instrumental in guiding and shaping others. He truly never met a stranger. He will forever remain in the hearts and minds of those he touched and his positive impact upon others cannot possibly be measured.
A memorial service will be held this Thursday, November 10th, at 1:00 PM in The Raleigh Rose Garden, Everett Ave, Raleigh, NC 27607. Memorial donations to honor Ryan may be given to Sophia and Adalyn's college fund. Details will be provided on Ryan's Facebook page or can be mailed to Ryan Memorial Fund, 108 Jersey Ridge Rd., Cary, NC 27518.
