Shirley Hicks Obituary
Fuquay-Varina
Shirley Bailey Hicks, 73, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, June 6, 2014 surrounded by her children and their spouses. She was born November 17, 1940 in Wake County to late William Alpheus Bailey and Fannie Rogers Bailey.
Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Hicks, Sr.; sisters, Oza Mae Albright, Katie High, Dottie Ferrell, Dorothy Hicks, Nina Hunt; and brothers, Simon Bailey and James Bailey.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a friend to many and was loved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her children, Brenda Porter and husband, Kent of Willow Spring, Faye Hicks Fulcher and husband, Mark of Henderson, John C Hicks, Jr. and wife, Michelle of Cleveland, OH, and Wayne Hicks and wife, Kim of Fuquay-Varina; and sister, Gertie Jones Potter and husband, Bobby of Zebulon.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014 at Thomas Funeral Home, 401 N Ennis Street, Fuquay-Varina.
Flowers are welcome or contributions made in her honor to the charity of your choice.

To a wonderful Lady that I had the honor working with in the good old day's....Brenda,Faye,Johnny,& Wanye,just remember the good time's and keep your heads up...Shirley up there with my Mom and you know they are having a good time...The LORD had plans for this and all we can do is to wait for the next ride up...My thought and prayers will be with all the family....
