Knightdale
Shirley Puryear Stell, 82, of 821 Keiths Road, Passed away after months of declining health on Sunday, January 28, 2018. Shirley was born in Wake County on August 10, 1935 to the late Thornton Ennis Puryear and Lucy Mae Moody Puryear. She graduated from Rolesville High School in 1953. She went to work with NC State Government serving over 25 years in the State Treasurers Office, with all her years under the direction of Harlan Boyles. Shirley was married to the late, A.G. Stell, who preceded her in death on May 10, 2007.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Shirley's family will receive relatives and friends immediately following the service. Inurnment will follow at Beulah Christian Baptist Church Cemetery at a later date.
Surviving: sister, Linda P. Edwards of Zebulon; brother, Danny Puryear (Debbie) of Bunn; nephews: Mark Edwards, Jon Edwards; Jason Puryear, Daniel Puryear; great-nieces: Amber Edwards and Samantha Puryear; and a great-nephew, Jaxon Edwards.
In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Tony Puryear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Eastern NC Chapter, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
