Clayton
Spencer R. Quick, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday at his home. Born in Chicago, IL, to the late Spencer S. and Alyda Robinson Quick.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Raleigh. Burial will follow at Historic Oakwood Cemetery, Raleigh.
Surviving are his wife of 69 years, Barbara Curtiss Quick and 5 children; daughters, Susanna Q. Winton Olson and husband, Eric of Raleigh, Wendy Q. Payne and husband, Allen of Clayton, Barbara Q. Prior of Amherst, OH; sons, Spencer Scott Quick of Raleigh, Jonathan C. Quick of Sanford; brother, Roland Quick Behny and wife, Marilyn of Murrieta, CA; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 6 step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Carolyn Curtiss Quick and a brother, Robert Bentley Quick.
Spencer had a varied career, from flying a L5 in China and Burma during WWII , to working in the corporate world in advertising for Sears, Orange Crush and The Borden Company, to working in the White House under Truman and Eisenhower, to the Episcopal Seminary and 45 years as a priest where he spearheaded a Protestant Cursillo where he served as a spiritual director for 30 years until his retirement and entrance into the Roman Catholic Church as a layman and Eucharistic minister. Quite a Journey!
The family will receive friends at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Garner on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service and rosary starting at 5:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2817 Poole Rd. Raleigh, NC 27610 in Spence's memory.

He was a great, great man. Wife may not remember us, wife is the daughter of Raymond & Margaret Cavins who was a part of Cursillo, we also went through Cursillo. We loved Spencer, he will always be in our hearts.
