I just learned of Steve's passing. I am saddened by the loss of my friend who I admired from the first day we met. We met as a result of a claim for damage to our home. We became fast friends. Steve was a great human being who I believe, like my own father , never met a stranger. He had great integrity, perception and wonderful heart. He was one of the finest people I know and I will greatly miss him! My deepest condolences to his family on such an untimely passing. My husband and I are so glad we knew him!

My deepest condolences to Chris, Tammy and CJ. Being a close Buddy for the past 18 years has created memories I will cherish for the remainder of my days. We took many trips together and ALWAYS had experiences that bring a smile to my face. I will miss the regular visits to my home in Atlantic Beach and my visits to Steve's home which was my home away from home when in the Raleigh area. Steve dearly loved my vine ripened tomatoes every year around this time and I will enjoy the first one this year in his honor. There will be no replacement for the thousands of phone calls we shared and the belly aching laughs. We will miss Steve at my sister's Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners as we miss our other family members who have passed. And a special thanks to Bobby Cheatham for introducing us at my home in 1997 after which, my life was forever changed for the better. I am going to miss the love.

Sincerely,
John W Hopkins

I want to thank my father for the best 40 years of my life! This is a hard day for everyone that knew daddy. He has gone to live with our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ! He is also with his father and mother,my Grandparents. This is truly the saddest day I have ever faced in my life but at the same time the happiest day of my life to know he is at peace in Heaven!Daddy has given me the strength to be happy for him because he is at peace. If their was one man that could talk to a total stranger and then in the same conversation start a lifelong friendship, it is my dad.I didn't have the honor of meeting all his friends, but I can say from all the comments and stories that I have heard about them, I feel how lucky one man can be to have had such caring and devoted friends as my father had and I will always be a friend to all the wonderful people that my Dad considered his friends!I would like to thank all the people that was a friend of my Dads, because that is what kept my Dad happy all through my life and it has taught me how much a friend means to you.My Dad was a great father,an awesome Father in law,and the best Grandfather to my son that a child could have.Today I am the luckiest person on Earth to be able to have had Steve Weiss as my Dad!Daddy were going to miss you and always remember you as a father and our friend, and we love you!
Your Son,
Chris

The cul-de-sac will not be the same without Steve. We will miss our chats as Steve would stop to talk when he drove in or out, or just wave when passing. Thinking of his family.
