Susan Roth Obituary

Susan Marie Brummitt Roth

July 19, 1944 - May 12, 2017

Cary

Susan Marie Brummitt Roth, age 72, died peacefully at her home in Cary, NC on May 12, 2017. She was surrounded by many of her family. She was born in Denver, CO to Leroy David Brummitt, a career U.S. Army officer, and Mary Adeline Brummitt, born O'Connor. She spent her entire life travelling all over the world, first as an Army dependent, and then as the wife of a career Marine Corps officer. She never complained, and took each new assignment as another adventure. She graduated from Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1966, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. She also participated in Army ROTC, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation, and served as a Dietitian. She worked as a Dietitian for almost 35 years in various hospitals and public health departments, depending on where her husband was currently stationed. She received numerous awards and accolades for the professional and caring manner in which treated her patients.

Susan Marie was an outgoing, fun-loving person, living life to its fullest with family and friends. She loved music and loved to dance, and most often was the last to leave the dance floor. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and occupied much of her life ensuring the health and well-being of her children and grandchildren. She truly enjoyed nature's beauty: her flowers, the many birds that came to her feeders, the lake behind her house with its many water fowl, and the ocean, which offered many opportunities for family get-togethers.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, her son, John David and daughter-in-law, Susan of Denver, Colorado, her son, Joseph Michael and daughter-in-law, Theresa, of Ashburn, Virginia, two granddaughters, Sierra and Alexis, and four grandsons, Brendan, Jacob, Joshua, and Nicholas. She is also survived by her sister, Ann and her brother, John, both of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

A celebration of life will take place at her home on May 28, 2017. Please consult the Brown-Wynn website for details. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wake County SPCA. Online condolences may be made at www.BrownWynneCary.com

Dear Mike and family, we are so sad with the passing of Sue. We remember so many great evenings together and having dinners. May God give you much strength during this most difficult time. I'm sorry we didn't learn of her passing earlier. Much love always. Dr. and Mrs. Kevaghn Fair, my fellow Dietitian at Duke and you as our neighbors a few streets away.

Dear Mike and family,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Sue's passing. I too remember meeting Sue and your family when we worked together as dietitian's in Salt Lake City.Seems like only a few years ago yet it was over 30 years past! Life, jobs, etc. moved us to different parts of the country but Sue and I remained in contact. I considered her a good friend.Sue was a caring, competent dietitian and fun, loving friend. Remember the time we visited you in Cary and our car broke down? You were so gracious, allowing us to stay with you and transporting us back to the car repair in Wilmington!
John and Joe - your mother was so proud of you and loved your wives and of course her grandchildren. Be thankful for the many good memories of times spent together.
Mike, if I could reach out with a hug I would. We send our love and prayers for strength, comfort and peace to you all.

Mike,
It seems like yesterday when I was with you guys as you got married right after graduation. You were made for each other!! Terri and I were shocked to learn of Sue's battle with colon cancer and her subsequent death. She was a wonderful lady and please know that our prayers are with you and your family. Our deepest sympathies. Terri and Jack Diesing, Jr
