Theodore Edris Obituary

Raleigh, North Carolina - Theodore (Ted) Robert Edris, aged 95, a long time resident of Raleigh, NC, passed away on August 22, 2024. Born on February 6, 1929, Ted led a life marked by dedication, humor, and service.
Ted served in the Air Force from August 1946 to September 1953, a tenure that saw him embrace the rigorous demands of military life, fostering skills and discipline that he carried into his civilian career. Post-service, he embarked on a distinguished career at IBM, starting as a computer technician before retiring as a Documentation Specialist in 1988 after 35 years.
A man of faith, Ted was a long-time member of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Raleigh, NC. His commitment to his community was evident through his lifelong involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. An Eagle Scout and a Boy Scout Leader for the Occoneechee Council, he remained active in scouting for over 60 years, shaping the lives of many young individuals.
Ted's personal life was enriched by his hobbies, notably woodworking, where he crafted numerous pieces cherished by family and friends. Known for his respect, wit, and dry sense of humor, he was deeply caring, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Long Edris; daughter, Dianne Edris Schickedantz; and his parents, Theodore Roosevelt Edris and Helen Uhler Edris. He is survived by his close family members Mark Schickedantz (Sharon), April Padilla (Rich), and Glen Adams (Tammy).
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 27th at St. Philip Lutheran Church, Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Occoneechee Council BSA, 3231 Atlantic Ave., Raleigh, NC 27604 (ocscouts.org), supporting an organization that was very dear to Ted.

Ted was a great Scouter having touched the lives of many folks during his involvement with the Occoneechee Council.
I had the privilege of working with Ted on several different projects in Scouting. He was always a "class act"!

Condolences....great Scouter...an even better man. Had lost touch these past few years as we have both aged.
