Thomas "Bo" Scott Berry

Thomas "Bo" Scott Berry, 55, passed away peacefully at Duke University Medical Center on Sunday night, March 9, 2014. His wife and two sons were with him while many family and friends stood outside the hospital room. Bo lived a bright and glorious life. He was a funny, courageous and shining spirit who loved his family and his friends. He was a dedicated, devoted and caring co-worker with Cisco Systems for over 15 years. Since being diagnosed with cancer in 2007, Bo fought a very hard and courageous battle without a single complaint while continuing to live his life with purpose, care and dedication. He loved his dogs, Lee, Mario, Ozzie and Vata. He also enjoyed cycling, swimming, hiking and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Karen; sons Nathaniel and Zachary of Holly Springs; mother, Lorraine of Apex; sisters-in-law, Deborah Bailey of Fayetteville and Janet Provost and husband, John of Swansboro; brothers-in-law, Neil Bailey and wife Elizabeth of Clayton and Gary Bailey and wife Sarah of Buffalo, NY; mother-in-law, Betty Bailey of Clayton; and father-in-law, B.L. Bailey of Clayton.

He was Uncle Bo to Jordan, Carter and Caroline of Swansboro and Richard, Valerie and Sydney of Clayton.

Bo was preceded in death by his brother, Danny and his father, Dan E. Berry.

A celebration of Bo's Life will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Sunset Lake Lodge, 5664 Sunset Lake Road, Holly Springs, NC. Private entombment will be on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Duke Multiple Myeloma Research Program, Attn: Julia Hoyle, DUMC 3961, Durham, NC 27710.

I don't know if you remember me, but we know each other from St. Francis Church. I was so sad and sorry to hear of Bo's death. It sounds like he fought with heart and concern for others and for a long time.
