Thomas Dow Obituary

Thomas Keane Dow, 64, of Raleigh, died on Monday, August 1, 2005 after a brief illness. Tom was born on November 15, 1940 in Binghamton, NY, the son of the late Mary Agnes and Robert Francis Dow. He moved his family to Raleigh with IBM in 1965. Tom retired from IBM in 2000 after 38 years of service.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Stanton Dow; his children, Christine Rothemich, Patrick Dow, Colleen Dow, and Beth Shannon; his sons-in-law, Michael Rothemich and Tim Shannon; his grandchildren, Sean Burrus, Aaron Rothemich, and Christopher, Kiley and Ryan Shannon; his brothers, Robert Dow of MA, Michael Dow of MA; his sister, Eleanor Dow of New York; as well as many devoted nieces, nephews, brothers- and sisters-in-law, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Cilano.
Tom devoted his life to his family, all of whom were with him at his bedside when he died.In addition to spending time with family, Tom enjoyed working in his yard, carpentry, reading, playing golf, and doing crossword puzzles. He was also a talented artist. One of the greatest joys in his life was his five grandchildren. Aside from home, his favorite place in the world was Skaneateles Lake, NY. Tom's sense of humor, his quick wit, and the quiet strength upon which his family relied so much, will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A funeral mass will be held at 12 noon, Friday, August 5, 2005 at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of the Neuse Road, Raleigh.
The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, August 4th at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 27985, Raleigh, NC, 27611.
