Timothy Faherty Obituary

Timothy Raymond Faherty

February 8, 1970 - December 16, 2015

Chapel Hill

Timothy Raymond Faherty, beloved son of Judge Pat DeVine and the late Raymond Edward Faherty, Jr., died suddenly on December 16th. Tim was 45 years old.

Tim was a magnificent human being. He was courageous and compassionate; wise and insightful. He was an accomplished guitarist and artist. Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley were his musician heroes.

He loved being a community member at Club Nova in Carrboro. He cared deeply about his friends. He defined himself as a Taoist.

Tim leaves his mother, his twin sister Elizabeth Clare "Beth" Faherty; brothers John Fate and Henry Faherty; and their mother Kate Faherty; beloved aunts, uncles and cousins and dear friend Lou Lipsitz.

The family would especially like to thank Dr. Carol VanderZwaag; Club Nova Director Karen Dunn; the UNC ACT Team, particularly Derek Olsen; Dr. Dennis Ellis and staff; and the unkown EMS responders who valiantly tried to save Tim's life.

A memorial service will be held in early February at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Hillsborough. Donations in TIm's honor may be sent to: Club Nova, 103 W. Main Street, Carrboro, North Carolina 27510.

While I did not know Timothy, I knew of your love for him when he was very little in 1971 and 1972, the time when I worked with you, Pat. You have my sincerest best wishes at this time when you think of his life. Peace to you.
