Todd Zumbach Obituary

Todd Christopher Zumbach

July 21, 1965 - May 16, 2014

Holly Springs, NC

Todd Christopher Zumbach, 48, of Holly Springs, NC, died suddenly Friday, May 16, 2014 at Rex Hospital due to complications from cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends.

Todd was born July 21, 1965 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, NY. The son of Arthur James Zumbach and the late Sally Rozelle Zumbach, he is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jodi Walters Zumbach and their sons, Zachary David Zumbach and Andrew Christopher Zumbach.

Todd loved to be outdoors and was an avid sportsman. He jumped at any opportunity to hunt or fish. In fact, his first date with Jodi was a fishing excursion. Todd also loved to cook and was fond of showing his love for friends and family by preparing abundant meals – often with the fresh game or fish he had caught and vegetables from his garden. Any celebration only truly began once Todd arrived. Todd worked hard, played hard, and lived life to the fullest. His and Jodi's proudest accomplishment was raising their two sons into fine young men and seeing them in loving relationships.

In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by his father, Arthur Zumbach and his wife, Loretta; brother, Mark Zumbach; sister, Debra Grannan and her husband, Bob; brother Scott Zumbach and his wife, Ann; brother David Zumbach and his wife Anita; step-sister Dana Bachman, and her husband, Eddie; mother and father-in-law, David and Sharon Walters; sister in-Law, Wendy Brockelbank; sister in-law, Courtney Peters and her husband, Jay; former brother in-law and friend, David Brockelbank. He is also survived by; nieces Kat, Britney, Katelyn, Jessica, Audra, Jordan, and Olivia; nephews, Eric, Steven, David, Mark, Jake, Joey, and Dylan; aunts, Sandy, Linda, Judy, Kay, Ruth, and Eileen; uncles, Richard and Jacob; and many cousins, extended family, and friends.

Todd was an organ donor, and it is fitting that his eagle-eye talents may give someone else the gift of sight.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20 from 6 PM to 8 PM and a celebration of Todd's life will be Wednesday, May 21 at 11 AM, both at Williford Funeral Home, 201 E Academy St, Fuquay Varina, NC 27526.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: NC Wildlife Federation, 1024 Washington St. Raleigh, NC 27605, www.ncwf.org/support.

Jodi and Family, it has been years since I have seen Todd but all memories were crazy fun times in High School and good old Lock Stock and Barrel. So sorry for your family's sudden loss. He had to go much too soon. Sandy Skibinski Browning

While I did not know Todd well...we duck hunted on several occasions...I was always glad when on a hunting trip Todd and his boys. He always livened even the worst of our hunts up. I was always impressed by his sons as well. They were always polite and had Todd's love of hunting and fishing. True sportsmen at an early age!. One of my fondest memories of any duck hunt was pulling up on shore near our blind, it was before sunrise, windy and freezing of course, and there was Todd Zumbach with a big fire going and bacon and eggs frying. He was the man! I don't think we shot any ducks that trip but it really didn't matter. The time spent with really good people was what mattered. Godspeed Todd! Best wishes and condolences to the family.

Dearest Zumbach Family,

I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Zumbach a few times over the last several years. I have had the opportunity to work with both of his sons for the past 5 years. He instilled a great deal of pride and a love of the outdoors in both. His legacy will live on strongly in both, and  he will look over them with pride from above. He can rest easy he has given them the knowledge and morals to continue to be wonderful young men. You both and your entire family are in my thoughts.

Jodi, Zack & drew, I am so saddened to hear of Todd's passing. I have the pleasure of working with Todd at H&M from 1995-2010. We worked on jobs in N.Carolina and Kentucky and spent 8 years together at the Pentagon. I know the sacrifices he made working out of town for all of the years at the Pentagon. Todd and I were much alike... We worked to live and live we did on the weekends with family and a huge passion for hunting & fishing!!! Through the years we would share hunting and fishing stories and experiences but unbelievably, we never had the opportunity to hunt or fish together. He loved hunting with Zach & Drew and was very proud of their accomplishments! Todd was always upbeat, happy and a great person to be around. He was great at his job, on the water or in the woods and a great friend to many! May God give you all the needed strength during this tough time!
Rest In Peace Buddy,
Hawk

I feel fortunate to have known Todd. His laid back demeanor along with his strong leadership skills (along with his sense of humor)was inspirational to those of us wise enough to want to be more like him. As another friend expressed, Todd was a mentor to him, and I was glad to have called him my mentor as well. God bless you all.

Jodi and family, good souls usually grace our lives for a short but wonderful time while they are with us. Todd was one of these old souls who could bring anyone out of a depression, or angry or bitter mood with just a glance of his never-ending smile and beyond-positive outlook on life. I can't ever remember a time when he wasn't smiling or laughing his laugh which I can hear in my head right now, as if it were yesterday. My regret in losing contact over the years with this positive, loveable soul will always be at the forefront of my thoughts, but I feel Todd right here right now with his reassurance that we will all be with him again soon enough. And when that time comes, Todd and I will be trout fishing in a mountain somewhere and he'll outcatch me by double, which he did the first time we went trout fishing, and I had told him to be patient and not get frustrated when I skunked him. He proved me wrong. He bested my best and we ate plenty of trout that night by the campfire. His ability to make a feast out of nothing always astonished and amazed me. Todd, you will be sorely and sadly missed my friend. But it will make me try even harder to be the best human being I can be so that one day I will be where you are and we can party like the days of old, never worrying about tomorrow. Love you always Todd!
