Werner "Wes" Ernst Seidel, 91, died peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Golden Living Center Starmount in Greensboro, NC.

Wes was born February 21, 1924 in Berlin, Germany. He emigrated to the United States with his mother and two sisters in 1936.

He served in the United States Army in World War II, stationed in the Pacific Theatre. Upon discharge, he began his career as a leather broker. He owned Seidel Trading Corporation located in New York City's former World Trade Center, and retired prior to the 2001 tragedy.

His passions included art, music, golf, tennis and world travel. In his golden years, he reside in Jonathan's Landing Golf Community located in Jupiter, FL. There, he spent 30 wonderful years with his beloved late wife, Enid Seidel. He was an avid golfer, winning his final tournament at age 86. In addition to athletic pursuits, he enjoyed weekly poker games with his close friends. He was a formidable Scrabble player and passed these skills along to his children and grandchildren.

In his final years, Wes relocated to the Chapel Hill, NC area to be closer to his family. The Tanz family extend their appreciation to the Golden Living Center Starmount and Liberty Hospice for their compassion and loving care.

Wes is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Karen-Amy and Jonathan Tanz; step-sons, James, Arthur and Robert Mallock; sister-in-law, Laura Chontos; grandchildren, Ari, Robin, Joseph, John, David, Benjamin and Ashley; nephews, Joel and Aaron; nieces, Sandy and Deborah. He was predeceased by his wife, Enid; son, Paul; and sisters, Ruth and Susan.

A June celebration of his life will take place at Golden Living Center Starmount in Greensboro, NC.
