"The Way Of Love"
If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the cracking of a rusty gate. If I speak God's word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "Jump," and it jumps, but I don't love, I'm nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first",
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he know us!
But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation:Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.
Dr. Wiley M. Davis Sr lived these words. It became easy for him to display his love for others and encouragement to anyone who came in contact with him.
"If I could help somebody along the way; then my living is not in vain."
This is the Dr. Wiley M. Davis Sr I knew and grew to love while at Saint Augustine's "St. Aug" and his visits to the Bahamas.

During my years there, Saint Augustine's College rendered to us abundant wisdom and inspiration through a president named Robinson, a dean named Twitty, a financial vice president named Holloway, various instructors and various staff members. There however was one particular vice president ( Dr. Wiley M. Davis, Sr. ) who I silently considered my dad-on-campus. Like my real father, Dr. Davis had a kindness about him yet blended with seriousness, responsibility and integrity. I was blessed to be mentored by such a soul as Dr. Davis. May God bless the family especially during this time of bereavement.

Today I heard with a lot of pain the home going of one of God's saints Dr.
Wiley Davis. My tears are not of sadness but joyfull because I know this wonderful MAN whom I call my dad
is gone to rest.
Dr. Davis was the first person to meet me at arrival from Liberia in 1977.He went to many places together, shared many times of eating and conversation. He looked out for all the foreign students.I am a priest today because of people like Dr. Davis.
He called me from the train when Mrs. Davis passed and I heard his love for his wife and son Wiley jr in his voice.
Wiley jr. please note that you have a special place in my heart.

My memories of Mr. Davis, as he was called then, was a kind and caring person who was so devoted to the "aug". When the guys acted up. He would always call my husband in and say, "Incorminias, I know you know who is responsible for this".
He will be greatly missed. He will be greatly missed.

It has been said that a man that everyone speaks well of is either a a god or a fool . That is obviously a premise that is belied by Dean Davis because during and since my matriculation at St. Aug in 1962, I have only heard and seen good deeds and good words spoken about our respected and beloved Dean Wiley Davis. He was neither a god or a fool but a true child of God.RIP

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
Dr. Davis was indeed a warm and gentle spirit. He was anointed with a spirit of wanting to help someone all the time!I never heard him raise his voice, I never saw him lose that smile, and always had an encouraging word to brighten your day. I met him in 1990 and until a few months ago, he would come by the office just to say hello.
Dr. Davis will truly be missed, but he will always live in our hearts as a giant among men.

Dean Davis (as I remember him from 1965-69)was a very kind and considerate man. It was obvious he loved St. Aug and enjoyed working with the students. Without his pleasant encouragement and unbelievable patience, my matriculation at St Aug would have been much more difficult. He will be missed.

Dr Davis was a special person in my life. I wil never forget my senior year in 1968 he went the extra mile in helping me get my first job. Wiley and family, as you know, Dr. Davis was an anchor in the time of trouble. He was one of the most compassionate and caring persons on God's green earth. He was a giant among men!
