Mac and I were friends going back to his days at First Citizens Bank and maintained a cordial relations for many years. He was a good friend and gentleman.

i remember Mac from Victory elementary school in Gastonia and also at Ashley High School and always looked up to him. We were in the first band at Victory and both played the trumpet; however, he was much better than I.
We were also neighbors. May he rest in peace.

I will always remember Mac as being a Tar Heel southern gentleman on our many Labor Day trips to St Simons Island. Those were such fun times. Missing those good friends.

I was so saddened to hear of Macs passing. My wife and I were part of the beach bunch that spent so many great times w him and others at St Simmons. We had so many memorial times with him (and wives) and all of our group that went on a Labor Day trip for more years than I can remember. Loved his sense of humor, witticism and demeanor. Between him and our pals Bob & Dale Rivenbark and others it was endless grins for days on end. I spoke w him just a few months back to check in and see how he was. Our group trips slowly ended as we all moved, had kids etc. Mac sent me some pics of earlier times about a year ago. I´ll always cherish those and the fond memories they brought.
As well as I knew him I always called him Mac and just from obit learned his full name.
Also, It was so sad to hear another of our beach crowd friends passed within days of Mac.
Rest-in peace my friend. We´ll join up again for more laughs in the great beyond
