William Parham Obituary
November 11, 1934 - December 29, 2023
Raleigh, North Carolina - William "Bill" Garland Parham, Jr., 89, passed away Friday, December 29, 2023. Bill was born November 11, 1934 in Granville County to the late William Garland Parham, Sr., and Inez Dean Parham. He graduated from Berea High School and received his BS in Agricultural Science from NCSU. Bill honorably served in the US Navy Reserve from 1960-1962.
Bill served in the NC Department of Agriculture for many years and concluded his career as the Deputy Commissioner of Agriculture. He received numerous awards for his dedication to include Honor Award for Outstanding Accomplishment in the Field of Administration from the National Association of State Department of Agriculture and an Honorary American FFA Degree from the National FFA Organization.
Bill was an active member of the Raleigh Host Lions Club, serving a term as President and receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow awards for Dedicated Humanitarian Services from Lions Club International. He was also a member of the Raleigh Investors Club for many years.
Bill is survived by his wife, Janice Davis Parham; sons; William "Tripp" Garland Parham, III and Dr. Christopher "Chris" Allen Parham (Dr. Amanda Lam); grandchildren; Sydney Parham and CJ Parham; step-son, Douglas Yancey (Pam); step-daughter, Jana Y. Anderson (Sam); step-grandchildren; Grey Yancey, Dylan Yancey, Greyson Anderson, and Emma Anderson; brother, Ronald Dean Parham (Gina); and his niece, Bridget Parham.
A Graveside Service was held January 3, 2024, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, Oxford, NC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607 or Raleigh Host Lions Club, 13200 Norwood Road, Raleigh, NC 27614.

Praying for all the family. Bill will be missed by all who knew him. He was a good man. We the 1957 graduatin class of Glendale High school, Kenly, NC will miss him at our class reunion celebration each year.
