William Schultz Obituary
William Schultz
October 30, 1938 - September 15, 2025
Raleigh, North Carolina - William James Schultz, 86, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, with his loving wife of sixty-five years, Jeanette E. (Maloney) Schultz, at his side. We are comforted by the full assurance that William is in heaven, reunited with the Lord he faithfully served. He was born on October 30, 1938, to the late Louis J. and Margaret J. Schultz. Raised on the family farm on Wolf Road in Colonie, William learned the value of hard work from an early age. Though his formal schooling ended early in his life, he went on to build a successful life defined by perseverance, faith, and deep love for his family.
After proudly serving in the U.S. Navy during the late 1950s, including time stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, William carried with him a strong sense of honor and justice. While there, he defended a fellow sailor against injustice, a stand that came at great personal cost but revealed his lifelong courage and moral conviction.
Upon returning home, William married the love of his life, Jeanette. Together, from the basement of their home in Glenville, NY, they founded Schultz Construction. What began as a small family effort grew into a successful heavy construction company, built on his integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to doing what was right.
Beyond his work, William lived his values every day. He was a guardian to his niece, welcomed family and friends into his home as his own, and showed his children and grandchildren-by both word and example-what it means to live with honor, kindness, and unconditional love. His legacy is reflected in the way his family continues to carry forward his work ethic, faith, and compassion. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, often playing practical jokes that kept his family laughing and reminded them not to take life too seriously. Known for his strong handshake and his love of an impromptu arm-wrestling match, he left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
During a difficult time in his life, William turned to God and found strength and peace in his faith. From then on, he dedicated himself to prayer and ministry, often seen offering street prayers and guiding others toward hope and belief. Above all, he showed how to love steadfastly-his devotion to Jeanette and his family was unwavering. His life was a testament to hard work, sacrifice, and a faith-filled heart, and he will be remembered always for the lessons he taught simply by the way he lived. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, Raleigh, NC, and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, his devotion to his faith was steadfast.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanette, his six children William M. (Suzanne), Terri Boland (Timothy), Daniel (Michele), Jeanne Galligan (Rod), Louis (Suzanne), and Edward. William is also survived by his 18 grandchildren, Ellen (Stephen), Kelly (Brandon), James (Rebeccah), Samantha (Gregory), John (Brandi), Gregory (Amanda), Jared (Brianna), Nicholas, Dean, Luke, Mitch, Jake (Meera), Ben (Chloe), Julia (Logan), Grace, Anna Marie, Matthew and Lauren; his fourteen great-children, Haiden, John, Logan, Charlotte, Timothy, Helen, Sadie, Gregory, Keegan, Jaxon, Aria and Rozlyn; brothers Harold "Hal" and Roger Schultz, sister Maureen Schultz, sister-in-law JoAnne Daly and Arlene Turner, along with countless nieces and nephews.
