Sending my condolences to the Quinn Family.
Dr. Quinn was not only an outstanding professor, but also an outstanding man who taught me several life's lessons in addition to Religion & Theology. I feel very privileged to have taken 2 of his courses during my time at Saint Mary's.
Thank you, Dr. Quinn. You will always be in my prayers.

We so appreciate the music he played at Scotts funeral as well as, in the past, for Lloyd and Molly Clarkes funeral. I will always remember the organ at Chapel of the Cross and the wonderful heartening sounds that Van produced. A remarkable career.

Not only an old ,fine neighbor, but provided wonderful music for funerals in our family:Lioyd and Martha Clarke, and my son, Scott.
He was a wonderful musician and his significant contribution to all things musical will remain. My thoughts are with Peggy and their children.

Van was a dear, dear friend. We spent many wonderful hours with Van and Peggy. Singing, dancing, talking for hours on the rocks of the Eno River- Playing Botticelli and being the pseudo-intellectuals! We are so fortunate and thankful that we were able to connect again this past summer after many years of space between us.
We in Iowa and they in NC. We remember going with Peggy and Van to Washington DC to hear Messien play a premier performance.
Van was always so funny and quick witted. A pleasure to be around. He was an amazing person and will be missed. Since we could not be there for the memorial service we went to the Harvest Preserve here in Iowa. A beautiful tract of land with standing stones from Indonesia and an open area for remembering people that we love and have left this life. Ben and I spoke his name into the vast expanse of wonderful countryside, trees and lovely blue sky. We shed many tears for our dear old friend. We love you Peggy and hope to continue being in touch and getting to know Nate and Molly and the people they love too. Our dear son Chris was there in Chapel Hill today for the service.

Dr. Quinn was an excellent teacher and choir master during my high school years. I was delighted to reconnect with him later on. The world is poorer now without him in it.

Van was the epitome of a gentleman. I have so many memories of his gracious hospitality and the many kindnesses he extended to me when I lived and worked in eastern NC. Music and the Episcopal Church brought us together as organist/choirmasters but we quickly bonded as friends. When I think of him I remember both his wonderful sense of humor and his humility. I could call him if I was in Chapel Hill and arrange for a few hours of practice at Chapel of the Cross and it was never an inconvenience for him to accommodate my requests. I remember his listening to a recital run-through and having deep discussions about Bach's organ music afterward. He had a never-ending thirst to learn more about music and his enthusiasm was contagious. He was, in short, a great guy, and will be missed forever.
