Zeda Bashford Obituary

Zeda Jones Bashford
November 7, 1917 - October 4, 2013
Raleigh
Zeda passed into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday. She was the last surviving sibling of 12 children born to the late Mary Elizabeth and Augustus Jones.
Zeda and her husband, Allie, owned and operated Shady Knolls Riding Stables for many years. She taught riding lessons and together she and Allie made many friendships that have lasted through the years. Zeda received many rewards and recognitions for her years of service and dedication to the 4H Club, Driftwood Homemakers Club, and her involvement with the Capital Horseman's Association and AHSA and NCHJA. She was a Steward for many horseshows as well as competing in them. Zeda was inducted into the NC Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1984.
Dedicated to God, her family and many friends, her heart held more love than could be held by most, always putting others before her. Zeda was forever a caregiver and always seeing the good in everyone and everything. She will be truly missed by her family and friends who will remember her kindnesses, generosity and beautiful loving spirit.
Zeda was a Charter Member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and later a faithful Member of her beloved Aversboro Road Baptist Church.
Zeda is survived by her daughter, Gene Womble and her husband, Jim, whom she often referred to as her adopted son: grandson, Denny Womble and his sons, Trent, Taylor and Evan; granddaughter Denise Morrison and her husband, Dale and their daughters, Jamie and McKenzie; grandson Todd Womble and his wife, Diane, and their daughter Haley and son Jake. She had numerous devoted nieces, nephews and friends who loved her dearly and cherish her memory.
A public entombment service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday at Montlawn Memorial Park, Lakeview Mausoleum followed by Memorial Service at Noon at Aversboro Road Baptist Church, Garner, NC.
In lieu of flowers it would please her family if contributions were made in her memory to Aversboro Road Baptist Church, 1600 Aversboro Road, Garner, NC 27529 or to Hospice of Wake County 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607. But her suggested memorials are kind words and good deeds shared with others. Either would be a meaningful tribute to the life of Zeda Bashford.
The family would like to thank the loving staff at Abbotswood for their TLC and Mayview and Hospice of Wake County for their care and kindnesses during her final days.
