December 17, 1938 - February 16, 2014
Kurt Hoj, master of furniture, amateur historian, connoisseur of fine potatoes, purveyor of bad instant coffee, family man, and friend to all, died on Sunday, February 16, 2014 after lengthy sparring matches with a malady of medical opponents. His spirit, enthusiasm, and sense of humor is carried on by his wife of forty-seven years Arla, his three sons John, Jack and Jeff, their better halves Kim, Robin, and Claudine, and five grandchildren, Kirsten, Jonah, Kelsie, Lila, and Henrick, and a surviving brother and his family in Denmark. But if you knew him, even if it was only for a little while, you most likely became part of his family of extended relatives and close friends that dot the landscape with smiling faces from Solvang to Sonderborg.
Services for Kurt will be held on Wednesday, February 26 at Bethania Lutheran Church in Solvang at 11:00 a.m. A reception in the Parish Hall will follow serving lunch. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Atterdag Care Center, The Bethania Lutheran Church, The Elverhoj Museum, or the charity of your choice. The family would also like to thank all of the medical attendants, the Cottage Hospital Network, Dr. Vindu Kemal, Dr. Kevin Beckman, and the Atterdag Care center for their patient, loving care that you extended to Kurt in the last years of his life. Finally, in the words of Kurt himself we remember him always saying at the end of every meeting, "I'm sure happy that you got to see me." We sure will miss you Kurt.
