Born in Anniston, Alabama December 29, 1921, Omagh Stanley Ettman passed away February 18, 2015 in Santa Barbara. The youngest of seven children, she graduated from Radford College, Virginia and taught school before moving to New York City in 1945. She met Herman Ettman, a New York City policeman, on July 7, 1947 and they married July 7, 1948. They resided in Little Neck from 1948 to 1972. Omagh and Herm had two children, Margaret (Peggy) Ettman Rantanen (1950-2013) and Carol Ettman (1953-1968). Herm retired in 1972 and they moved to Oceanside, California. After Herm's death in 2000, Omagh moved to Goleta. She enjoyed playing the harp, spending time with family and friends, taking classes at the Braille Institute, and participating as a member of the Goleta Presbyterian Church. Omagh had a gracious spirit that allowed her to develop many lasting friendships. Her friends and family will miss her indomitable spirit and unwavering smile. In addition to many nieces and nephews, Omagh is survived by granddaughter Rebecca Rantanen and son-in-law Gene Rantanen. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 25 at Goleta Presbyterian Church, 6067 Shirrell Way, Goleta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goleta Presbyterian Church.
