Passed away on October 5, 2014 at the age of 93. Robert was born July 22, 1921 and was raised in Lima, Ohio. He served as a Sergeant in the Army Air Force stationed in Italy during World War II, and earned two Bronze Stars.
After his military service, Robert moved to California where he met and married his loving wife, Marcean, in 1957. Together they were blessed with five wonderful children. Robert worked for Barker Bros. Furniture of Los Angeles for 11 yrs. and then worked for the U. S. Postal Service as a dedicated letter carrier for 38 yrs. He loved everything related to aviation and enjoyed reading, especially medical literature.
Robert is preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents and brother, Donald. He is survived by his brother, Richard, and his five children; Michelle Wood (Rudy) of Fallbrook, Michael Grainger (Tammy) of Colorado Springs, Chris Grainger (Becky) of San Diego, Jacqui Leicht (Ed) of Goleta and Shawn Grainger (Sara) of Yucaipa, as well as 13 treasured grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael Church in Goleta on Sat., Nov. 8th, 10 am with private interment and military honors at Miramar National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center or Villa Majella of Santa Barbara.
