Visitation will be Thursday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden.
Carl Albert Peterson was born on September 19, 1941, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the only son of Albert and Wilhemina (Lundberg) Peterson. He graduated with the Grand Community High School class of 1959, and then enrolled in the winter quarter Farm Agriculture Course at Iowa State University in Ames. He later enlisted in the United States National Guard. Carl was united in marriage to Linda McCullough on June 26, 1965, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm. The couple established their home on the family farm south of Boxholm. Carl farmed all of his life and was a supervisor for O's Gold Seed Company. He later continued the farming operation with his grain hauling business R.W. Trucking.
Carl was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Boxholm where he served on the Church council for many years. In 1972, Carl was awarded the Governor's Lifesaving Award by then Governor Robert Ray after rescuing a 12 year old boy caught in the wreckage of a burning semi-trailer truck. Carl served on the 4-H youth committee, was a 4-H Leader, participated in many antique tractor rides and belonged to the Arthur Anderson American Legion Post #63. Most of all Carl enjoyed visiting with his family and friends and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Peterson of Ogden, Iowa; three children, Paul (Barbra) Peterson of Dayton, Iowa, Mike (Dustine) Peterson of Ogden, Iowa, and Christopher (fiancé, Deana Heim) of Polk City, Iowa; and four grandchildren, Justin, Mitchell, Casey and Katelin.
