Craig Menefee Obituary

Craig Lashley Menefee, 60, of Boone, Iowa passed away on Saturday morning, December 13, 2008.
Craig was born on March 27, 1948, at Cherokee, Iowa to Clifford and Darlene (Grienke) Menefee.
He was a 1966 graduate of Aurelia High School. He married Joan Nielsen on August 24, 1968 in Aurelia, Iowa.
Craig attended Palmer College of Chiropractic, and in 1970, graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic. He and Joan moved to Boone, Iowa where he established his practice in October of 1971. During the years of his practice, he served on the board of directors of the Iowa Chiropractic Society, and was a member of Toastmasters.
Craig loved spending time shooting skeet and sporting clays with the Boone County Sportsmen's Club, where he also served as a board member for many years. He was a medalist several times in the skeet event at the Iowa Games. Since a young man, he enjoyed hunting pheasants and deer, especially with his grandfather, father, brother, cousins, and most recently, his son-in-law. Craig was a dedicated Minnesota Twins, Vikings, and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Most important to Craig was the time spent with his family. He treasured the time with his granddaughters and family weekends at Okoboji. Craig always had the video camera in hand, and enjoyed recording family get-togethers, weddings, and important events. Craig enjoyed traveling to antique shows. He and Joan enjoyed trips to Arizona as well as several other western states exploring Old West history.
His father, Clifford Menefee and father-in-law, Earl Nielsen preceded him in death.
He is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife, Joan; daughter and son-in-law, Carrie and Erik Lundy of Des Moines; granddaughters Josie and Megan Lundy; mother Darlene of Arnolds Park; brother Steven of Bloomington, Minnesota; niece Stephanie Menefee of Madison, Wisconsin; mother-in-law Joy Nielsen of Cherokee; as well as a host of other loving family members and dear friends.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, December 17th at 1:00 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Rev. Philip Webb officiating.
Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa at a later date.
Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their memorial gift to the family for a memorial to be selected at a later date.

We always have missed having someone to care for us and keep us in good health as Dr. Menefee. We tried for 25 years after we moved away. There just was never anyone as caring and kind as he always was toward our family. He will be missed.

We were shocked to hear of Craig's passing. He was a true miracle worker when it came to "fixing" our problems. He was one great person and well respected by both of us.
