Kathryn Oleson Dennis

Kathryn Oleson Dennis, age 84, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of Boone, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Funeral services were Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy in Boone where Bishop Tim Shipley officiated. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Webster City.
Kathryn was born in Ogden, Iowa, on January 14, 1923, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Enfield) Saunders. She married Clarence Oleson in Boone on August 31, 1941. Clarence died in May of 1983. On April 29, 1988, Kathryn married Ralph Dennis in Boone. Kathryn was a cook and she owned several restaurants including the Waffle Shop near Jordan, the Coffee Pot in Ogden and Kate's Café in Boone. In earlier years, she worked at the Woodward State Hospital as an attendant-trainer. She enjoyed country western music, reading, cooking, flower gardening, and bird watching. In earlier years, she liked dancing with her husband, Clarence. She enjoyed singing at nursing homes and she was a volunteer at the Boone County Museum and the Boone Chamber of Commerce Information Caboose on South Story with her friend Vi. Kathryn was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Boone.
Kathryn is survived by two sons, Joseph Oleson and wife, Diana of Ft. Worth, Texas and Stephen Oleson and wife, Maryann of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Harley Saunders of Ogden; two sisters, Nila Clemens of Boone and Marjorie Christiansen of Fort Dodge; three grandsons, Ryan Oleson and fiancée, Ann Nicola of Omaha, Nebraska, Adam Oleson and wife, Kathy of Kingston, New York, and Lance Oleson and wife, Aimee of Ft. Worth, Texas; and a great granddaughter, Sarah Oleson of Fort Worth, Texas. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, a daughter, Sue Michelle Oleson, and a sister, Genevieve Petrie.
