Albert Chaleski Obituary

Albert Peter Chaleski
Albert Peter Chaleski, 92, of Celebration, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on June 21, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on June 7, 1933, in White Plains, New York, Al lived a full life dedicated to family, community service, and adventure.
Al spent most of his life in Chappaqua, New York, where he graduated from Horace Greeley High School and was an avid baseball and basketball player and Little League coach. His commitment to community service was evident through his membership and leadership role as an officer and as Fire Commissioner in the Chappaqua Fire Department, where he served his neighbors with dedication and pride and made many lifelong friends.
After high school, Al served in the U.S. Navy Seabees, the construction force of the U.S. Navy. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Sandralee Rynd, beginning a beautiful 66-year partnership. Together, they raised their family in Chappaqua before relocating to Brookfield, Connecticut, in 1983, and then to Danbury, Connecticut, in 2000.
Al built a distinguished career in public service, working for the Town of New Castle where he served as both Highway Superintendent and Commissioner of Public Works. He later transitioned to Reader's Digest, where he worked until his well-earned retirement.
Al and Sandy shared a passion for travel and adventure. They created countless cherished memories during summers spent with family and friends on Nantucket Island and embarked on numerous cross-country RV adventures, exploring the beauty of America together. As a lifelong Disney enthusiast, Al fulfilled a dream when he and Sandy moved to Celebration, Florida, in 2019, where they could enjoy the magic of Disney parks whenever their hearts desired. Al will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to community, and his zest for life's adventures. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he loved so deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Sandralee Rynd Chaleski; his children, Deborah (William) Kelly and Carl (Rachel) Chaleski; and his treasured grandchildren, Sean Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Benjamin Chaleski, and Allison Chaleski. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Martha (Rooney) Chaleski and Alex Chaleski; and his brother, Arthur P. Chaleski.
A Burial Rite and Interment will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday afternoon, August 17, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Brookfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to honor the memory of Al to St. Paul's Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT 06804, or Give Kids The World, 210 South Bass Road, Kissimmee, FL 34746.
