Arthur B. Carlson
Arthur B. Carlson passed into life eternal on November 17, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 14, 1926 and came to New Milford, CT as an infant. He graduated New Milford High School in 1944 and entered the Navy in April of 1944 serving until June of 1946. He attended school in New Haven and was employed by the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation for 31 years, the last 7 of which he was Division Engineer of Construction for the western third of the State. He then started a business, A.B. Carlson Construction Management. He was New Milford's Clerk of the Works for construction projects such as the New Milford Public Library addition, Northville Elementary School, the Waste Water Treatment Plant addition, and numerous road paving, bridge construction, and civil modifications throughout New Milford. For his last major project, he worked for CE McGuire as bridge inspector for the Intestate 84 rebuild from the New York border to the Danbury Fair Mall Interchange. He was a member of New Milford Volunteer Fire Company Water Witch Hose Company No. 2, a member of St. Peter's Mason Lodge, and a long-time member of New Milford United Methodist Church, where he was confirmed in 1938. He is predeceased by his parents Axel and Lillian (Bloomquist) Carlson, his wife Francis (Fay) Carlson, and brother Warren of Brookfield. He is survived by a brother, Robert and his wife Pearl of New Milford, a sister Verna of West Lebanon, NH, sister-in law Ann of Catskill New York, 8 nieces and nephews, 6 grand-nieces and 6 grand-nephews. A memorial service will be held on December 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at the New Milford United Methodist Church. Arrangements by the Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge Street, New Milford, CT.
