Betty Jean Tzenis, 82, of Sherman, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on September 16, 2025. Betty was born in Wisner, Louisiana to Cora Lee and Brace Delaughter on February 14, 1943. Her Valentine's Day birthday fit her just right - she shared her passionate heart and fierce love with her family every day. We will always remember and be grateful for her humor, her mischievous smile, and unwavering support.
Betty began her career at Nestle soon after moving from Louisiana to Connecticut. She remained an employee until her retirement, making many friends there throughout the years.
She is survived by the love of her life, her devoted husband of 60 years, Michael Tzenis; her children, Donny Delaughter and Evangelia Kim Martin; her son-in-law, Thomas Martin; and her cherished grandchildren, Zoe and Nicholas Martin. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved cats, Harry and Sammy.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Barney, Lloyd, Dan, and Annie Pearl.
A celebration of life will be held on October 26, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford, Connecticut. We welcome you to join us at Italia Mia in New Milford, after the service for a toast to our beloved Betty Jean.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Danbury Regional Hospice or the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department, organizations that were so helpful, supportive, and respectful to Betty and her family.
Her laughter and love will remain in our hearts forever.
