Brian O'Connell Obituary

Brian Maurice O'Connell Brian Maurice O'Connell, age 53, a resident of Wilton, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Danbury Hospital. He was born in Queens, NY on August 1, 1954, a son of Maurice O'Connell of Gulfport, FL and the late Mary Dowling O'Connell. Brian received degrees from Hofstra University and the University of Southern California. He served as a Ranger in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He was an entrepreneur, author and CEO of The O'Connell Group, Inc. Brian was a successful and active member of the Wilton Community. In addition to his father, he is survived by his loving children, Michael, Kelly and Kaitlin; and was a beloved brother of John O'Connell of Orange County, N.Y., Maryellen Collins of Hicksville, N.Y., and Theresa Resnick of Syosset, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews also survive him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday January 7, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 229 Danbury Road (Route 7) , Wilton. The Rev. Michael C. Palmer, Pastor, will officiate. The interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Wilton. Friends may call at the Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street, Georgetown on Saturday and Sunday (January 5th and 6th) from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Brian may be made to Boy Scout Troop 20, c/o Eric Olstein, Scout Master, 201 Sturges Ridge Road, Wilton, CT 06897 or to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517.

Brothers -

This is extremely sad news. I only met Brian once when I was a cadet, but he was a legendary figure around Hofstra and Q-8. We all mourn his passing and will honor his memory.
