Catherine Stenza
Catherine (Francia) Stenza, 87, wife of the late Joseph Phillip Stenza, passed away Friday, August 29, after a battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Ridgefield, CT, until retirement and then in Naples, FL, for the next 25 years, moving to South Windsor, CT, in 2022.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Ridgefield and St. William Catholic Church in Naples, where she sang in their choirs. After retiring from Perkin-Elmer, she served in several capacities for the Pelican Bay Women's Club, including president, and performed with The Naples Players at the Sugden Community Theatre. The loving matriarch of her family, she had a beautiful singing voice and was a gifted knitter.
She leaves her daughters, Lisa Catanese and her husband, Paul, of Coventry, CT, and Gina Pin and her husband, Marc, of Newtown, CT; her daughter-in-law Ellen Stenza of Naples, FL; grandchildren Kristina (Chris), Michael, Andrew, Dan (Kelly), Catherine (Evan), Allison, and Joseph Aaron; and great-grandchildren Amelia, Benjamin, Maxwell, Nathan, and Cecilia Catherine. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Charles.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Ridgefield, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown, immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to Visiting Nurse and Health Services of Connecticut Hospice, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066.
