Dana Ozanich Obituary

Dana Marjorie Ozanich

Eaton Rapids

Dana Marjorie Ozanich, age 48, died unexpectedly September 20, 2014.  Dana was born March 25, 1966 in Lansing.

Dana was proud to be the first female mechanic for the United Parcel Service Lansing Center.  She was a dedicated employee who was honored to serve her UPS family with over 23 years of service.

Dana's contagious smile touched the lives of all who knew her.  She loved the outdoors, gardening, helping her friends and could usually be found on the golf course with a club in hand or faithfully cheering on the Detroit Lions as the unequivocal No. 1 fan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Ozanich; and brother, Danny Nichols.  Surviving are her mother, Carlene Warner (Joe Chunn); siblings, Kerry Johnson (Rick), Scott Nichols (Tom Pieronski), and Melissa Brown.  Dana will be sadly missed by her nephews, Seth, Jade, Shane, Kyler, and Braden.  She will be forever treasured by her best friend and honorary sister Michelle Dwyer.

Dana's Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2014 at Eden United Brethren Church, 1938 Eden Road, Mason, MI with Pastor Dan Bentz officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM as well as Friday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eaton Rapids Football, 800 State Street, Eaton Rapids, MI  48827 in memory of Dana.

The family is being served by the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, East Lansing.   On line condolences may be shared with the family at www.greastlansing.com.

May your soul rest. It was a honor to have met you. The 8 years spent at UPS was never a dull moment and the wisdom you bestow upon everyone always left their mark. I will never forget that smile and laugh. But also that stern look when you meant business. My Condolences to all.

Dana was a rare friend for so many years it deeply saddens me to know I will not have the opportunity to see her smile and hear her laugh like I had so many times before.

I am proud to say Dana was one of my best friends and was always there with a fond greeting, a smart comment, or just a laugh. She was one of the touchstones at UPS for a lot of people, you couldn't stop into the building without stopping to see her. The trait I will miss the most is her ability to turn a bad day, or an angry moment around with one or two choice words, and then I was smiling, I will miss her every day.

Dana was one of the most caring people i ever knew. I always called her our "building mom" at ups. Everyone with any kind of issue need only say "where the heck is dana I need to talk". She was more than willing to take the time to discuss anything on our minds. She as highly regarded as well as loved at work and beyond. A pilar of the union , and a genuinely loving lady. You will be missed "mom" . Be with mark now and forever.....

I want to thank Dana for her devoted support of our restaurant and always having the best attitude and friendliest smile. My daughter Lexi and Dana share the same birthday and I'll always remember her. We shared many laughs, had a lot of fun and I'll see my friend again some day. I'm sure Mark is taking great care of her.

My heart is truly heavy because of my friends untimely death. Dana was a true friend. She looked out for me and protected me. The best Union Stewart I've ever had. She was concerned about my well being first. As I walked the UPS building she'd holler hey girlfriend come here. Dana always got real close in my face when she would talk, no personal space, lol. She texted me the other day just to check up on me because I've been off work. Dana would hug me when I was down and she always understood my struggles. I will forever miss this woman she truly was a gem. Love you girlfriend.

Thanks for sharing the photographs to warm my heart and others. Wishing I were there to give you all my deepest sympathy, love and a warm embrace. Please know my prayers are with you.

Dana was one of the sweetest and greatest ladies I have ever met in my life. A smile that could warm everyones heart! When Dana gave you a hug it came from the heart. Golf on Tuesday nights will never be the same. Golfing Dana and Cathy will always be my favorite team to play. Playing at Mark's memorial tournament will be forever bonded in my heart. What a great day! Pretty sure she yelled something special to me from a green a way, something about my finally out driving her this year. Love that women to the moon and back! Cathy and Dana's family you are in my heart and prayers.

In the short amount of time I got to spend with Dana, I learned very quickly who she was. Working with Michelle I got to hear every day how Dana was, what Dana was up to and stories Michelle has from the past and present days they spent together. Dana was someone who would do anything for anyone in need. She worked hard, loved a lot and wasn't afraid to tell you like it is. She loved my daughter, and for that I love her. All in all, she was amazing! I feel honored to have known her, I only wish I was able to spend more time with her.

There are no words to express the loss and pain we are feeling right now for our wonderful friend Dana. She was the most caring and giving person we have ever met. She opened her arms to us and allowed us to be a part of her life for which we will forever be grateful. The memories we share are plentiful and will be what gets us through this extremely difficult time. Golfing, Lions games, Fourth of July, New Years Eve, Christmas, bonfires and card games will never be the same without you and Mark. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends who are experiencing this loss with us. You and Mark better be saving a spot at the card table for us. We will see you again our dear friend. Love ya girl!

Our family can't express enough how much we are grieving the loss of Dana. She was a good friend to my wife, a sports fan and supporter to both our kids, a cookie and strawberry jam supplier to our family, a close friend and the best co-worker I could ever ask for. Don't know what I will do without Dana at my side at work. Our hearts go out to Dana's family and friends who are grieving with us.

My sadness grows as the days go by since hearing this tragic news. I have known Dana for my entire UPS career and I will miss her terribly. She defined character and integrity like no other and cared for "her" entire workforce. She new everyone's children by name and cared for not only us but our families as well. I will miss our morning chats more than anything! Rest in peace my wonderful friend!
