David Wainwright Obituary

Wainwright, David E.
David E. Wainwright, 82, of Brookfield, beloved husband of Patricia (Rasmussen) Wainwright, died peacefully on Monday, December 22nd, at the Hearth in Southbury. He was born in Staten Island, NY on October 31, 1932, son of the late Stanley and Katherine (Berliner) Wainwright. He received a Masters Degree in business from Wagner College.
Mr. Wainwright retired as Director of Computing and Telecommunications from Union Carbide after 34 years of employment. He then went on to establish Wainwright Associates, working for the Town of Brookfield in computerizing their utility billing. He also owned and operated LearnTech providing management training and coaching to corporate executives.
Using his computer knowledge, he volunteered for BIPED, teaching computer skills to the physically handicapped. He also used his expertise to establish the Computer Learning Center at the Brookfield Senior Center where he also taught computer skills.
He enjoyed boating on Candlewood Lake and playing couples Bridge with his wife. A talented harmonica player he enjoyed performing with the Sharps and Flats choral group through the Brookfield Senior Center.
In addition to his cherished wife of 55 years, Pat, he will be sadly missed by his four children, Jeffrey Wainwright of Brookfield, Matthew Wainwright of South Kingstown, RI, Steven Wainwright and his wife, Carrie of Bordentown, NJ, and Christine Wainwright Snyder and her husband, Scott of Sarasota, FL; and his seven grandchildren, Joseph, Zachary, Lindsey, Nicholas, Ethan, Christopher and Julia.
The family will receive friends at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield, on Sunday, December 28th between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Monday December 29th at 11:00am at the Brookfield Funeral Home. Burial in Central Cemetery, Brookfield will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or to the Alzheimer's Association.
