Donald Preziosi Obituary

PREZIOSI, DONALD J.
Donald Joseph Preziosi, 69, a longtime resident of Danbury, and husband of Jeannie Preziosi, passed away October 31, 2016, after a brief illness.
Don was born December 30, 1946, in White Plains, NY before moving to North Tarrytown, NY where he graduated from Sleepy Hollow High School. He later lived in Yorktown Heights, NY. Don graduated from Westchester Community College and Bridgeport Engineering Institute of Fairfield University, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering. Don and Jeannie began their married life of 47 years in Fort Worth, TX while Don worked for the Norden Corporation based out of Norwalk, CT. He went on to work for Executone, Tie Communications and Schlumberger Doll Research before joining Microboard Processing Inc. of Seymour, CT, where he would spend the next 30+ years.
During his career at MPI, Don kindly and consistently taught the meaning of true friendship and made lives better because of the way he chose to live and lead as a gentleman; instrumental in building one of the most successful high-tech companies in the world today alongside his dear friend, and MPI founder Craig Hoekenga.
Customers from near and far came to MPI and remained for decades in no small part due to Don's years of dedicated service. Beginning as a small startup service center in Stratford in the early 1980's, Don saw MPI grow to the global reputation it enjoys today; and all through this history, his handwriting is there, in customer relations, as Vice President of Engineering, Vice President of Sales, Executive Vice President and CTO, all of the many hats he wore in his efficient, and unassuming way.
Don will be remembered for the right way he chose to live life, in the office, the community, to his family and the thousands of people around the world who considered him a true friend. He touched lives along the way, and his influence will continue.
Don and Jeannie belonged to St. Joseph's Parish of Danbury for more than 40 years. In addition, they were members of the Danbury Yacht Club for nearly 20 years, where they made many cherished friends and wonderful memories.
In addition to his wife Jeannie, he is survived by his sister, Joanne Bayer and her husband Stephen of Redding, CT; his sister Doreen Ayers and her husband Bill of Osprey, FL; his son Gary Preziosi and his wife Teresa of Newtown, CT; his daughter Christine Fintel and her husband James of Silver Spring, MD; his daughter Laurie Peruccio and her husband Michael of South Windsor, CT; eight grandchildren: Abby, Jude, Madison, Dominic, Zachary, Nathan, Ayla and Lucas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Anne and Joseph Preziosi.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8pm on Thursday, November 3, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St, Danbury, CT. A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Friday, November 4, at St. Joseph's Church, 8 Robinson Ave, Danbury. A private burial will follow at a later date.
Don's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of his caregivers at Danbury Hospital and the Praxair Cancer Center. The loving care they provided during Don's illness will always be remembered fondly. In addition, they would like to thank their dear friends and family for their invaluable support, care, prayers and love. They ask that contributions in Don's memory be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Its been almost 6 years since you returned to our Father. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you and wish you were here. "What would Don do?" is a mantra to me now and helps me try to live as you taught me. I love you and miss you, Don. Please keep that calm and steady eye on your family. I know the void that was left in my life, I cannot imagine theirs.

I knew Don when we went to Sleepy Hollow HS. I always remembered him as a real good guy. Very sad to learn of his passing. Condolences to his loving family.

November 3, 2016

I was saddened and shocked to hear today of Don's passing. Words seem to be so inadequate at these times.

In all the years that I was fortunate to work with Don, for me and so many others he represented the best of what true leadership is, always encouraging people to work together, always open to different views and caring of the person more than material gain. Although he had the right and power to be directive and autocratic, he never needed to, his kind manner and strength of integrity and also courage to stand up for others won everyone's devotion...where others needed to bully or demand, Don only needed to ask and everyone would gladly give him 110%.
He was everyone's gentle uncle and yet an accomplished business leader.

Don lived kindness and integrity every breath of his life and it reflected in the genuine and deeply kind character of his family as well.

My sincere condolences to his family.

There's a quote that reminds me of Don in every way -- "in the end, it's not the number of issues we tackled or the projects we finished with someone or any manner of material gain that they achieved but rather we remember how they made us feel"...Don always made everyone feel worthy of respect and dignity.

Though the voice be silent, the soul still echoes.

Rest in sweet peace, Don.

Don was very kind and supportive to me during the past six years especially. He helped me in so many ways, adjusting to a new life in Connecticut, and working with him at MPI, the company he loved and helped to build. With kindness and his quiet manner, he led by example, demonstrating what it was to live right and serve others. Don touched many hearts along the way, here in the country and abroad. I'm grateful to be one of them and will miss him.

I am heartbroken to hear of Don's passing. Don & Mike hired me at MPI to be their Administrative Asst. He was one of the most even tempered and kindest person I have ever known. He taught me so much, always had time to listen and offer guidance. He was a decent honest man and he so loved his family. The world needs more people in it like Don Preziosi. To Don's Family

I never worked at MPI as I was employed at Telephonics. I had the utmost respect for Don. He always treated me like royalty when I visited MPI because of the company I represented but in actuality he was the royalty. He was an unbelieveable influence in so many peoples lives both personally and professionally including mine. Although I hadn't seem him in a few years I remember all our meetings and discussions well and I will cherish them forever.

Rest in peace my friend. You are already missed
