Earle John Novak Jr.
1940 - 2024
Earle "Sonny" John Novak Jr., aged 84, passed away on November 2, 2024, in Danbury, CT. Born on August 20, 1940, to Earle Novak Sr. and Anna (Holick) Novak. Sonny dedicated his life to his family, his country, and his community.
Sonny served in the US Army from 1960 to 1963, where he honed the discipline and skills that would mark his subsequent career. He worked as a Master Tool & Die Maker at Eaton Aerospace for many years before transitioning to education, teaching Machine Shop at Henry Abbott Tech High School for a decade. He later returned to Eaton Aerospace, retiring in 2002.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Sonny was deeply committed to the New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department, where he served over 20 years, advancing from Assistant Chief of Ball Pond Fire Company to Chief of the Department.
He was a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical High School and furthered his education at Central Connecticut State University, equipping him with the knowledge and expertise that defined his career.
Sonny was a man of many interests, including hunting, fishing, and spending time at the beach. He cherished family vacations in the Bahamas and exploring new destinations on numerous cruises with his beloved wife, Pat. His love for the outdoors was a passion he shared with his grandchildren, often taking them hunting, fishing, and quad riding on their property.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Patricia Novak (Lobraico), daughters Dawn (Joel) Bouchard and Laura Briganti, grandchildren Collin, Vanessa (Maxwell), and Justin, and great-grandchild Wesley Cole. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia Danise, Paul Novak (Lily), and Constance Marino, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson Brandon William and son-in-law Michael.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Cornell Memorial Home, Danbury, CT. A church service is scheduled for Friday, November 8, at 11 a.m. at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 2 Colonial Rd., New Fairfield, CT. There will be no graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ball Pond Volunteer Fire Company at 7 Fairfield Drive, New Fairfield, CT 06812. Sonny's legacy of service and love for his community will be remembered by all who knew him.
