Evelyn Marie (Dougherty) Weaver, 92, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Lutheran Home of Southbury, CT. She was predeceased by her husband John C. Weaver Sr.
Evelyn was born in Harrisburg, PA, July 5, 1924, daughter of the late Thomas and Elvera (Gilmore) Dougherty. She grew up in Carlstadt, NJ, and attended East Rutherford High School. She resided in Paramus, NJ, and Newtown, CT, before moving to Watertown, CT. She worked at Dual Lite in Newtown and Rite Aid in Watertown, as well as volunteering at the Waterbury Hospital gift shop. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Oakville, CT, and an active member of the Watertown (CT) Senior Center.
Besides her husband and parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her brother, Paul Dougherty; her sister, Irma Haug; and her grandson, Christopher Weaver. Evelyn leaves behind one daughter, Carol M. Weaver of Prospect, CT; four sons, John C. Weaver Jr. and his wife, Andrea, of Frederick, Md., Thomas R. Weaver and his wife, Anne Marie, of Cherry Hill, NJ, Daniel A. Weaver and his wife, Holly, of Watertown, CT, and Peter W. Weaver and his wife, Dell, of Southbury, CT; 14 grandchildren, Eva Bogdan, Jack Crouthamel, Jim Crouthamel, Thom Weaver, Erin Weaver, Robert Weaver, Caitlin Weaver, Kristen Luckel, John C. Weaver IV, Melissa Weaver, Christina Weaver, Shannon Weaver, Megan Weaver, and Sarah Weaver; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at the Watertown Senior Center and All Saints'. Her love of family and friends was not only her strength, but also her source of happiness and fulfillment. Evelyn's family would also like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Lutheran Home for their loving Care for Evelyn and support for the family.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning 10 a.m., All Saints' Episcopal Church, 262 Main Street, Oakville, CT. Burial will follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ Calling hours Sunday 4-6 p.m. at Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, CT.
