Frank Cerra Obituary

Frank Cerra
June 26, 2025
Francesco Cerra, lovingly known as Frank, passed away at his home on Grace Street in Danbury, Connecticut, on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born in the village of Cerrisi, Italy, Frank was the cherished son of the late Giovanni and Ardina (Molinaro) Cerra. He was also preceded in death by his beloved brother, Roberto Cerra.
Frank immigrated to Connecticut in 1958 aboard the SS Cristoforo Colombo, an Italian ocean liner that departed from the port of Venice. A skilled and hardworking entrepreneur, he built a successful masonry contracting business that he ran until his retirement. His craftsmanship left a lasting mark on the Danbury area, with his work still visible in buildings and structures throughout the community.
As a proud Italian-American, he channeled his deep love for Italy into strengthening the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge. His vision and dedication led to the Lodge's relocation from Main Street to its beautiful new home overlooking Lake Kenosha. A devoted member for 70 years-and serving as President more than a dozen times-his leadership was instrumental in expanding the Lodge's offerings, adding valuable amenities for members and their guests to enjoy.
Frank is lovingly survived by his three daughters: Nancy Caine and her husband Michael, Ardina Cerra and John Graves, and Deanne Walsh and her husband James. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Brendan Caine, Brian Caine, Jessica Graves, Grace Walsh, and Jimmy Walsh. He is also fondly remembered by his nephews, John Cerra and his wife Michelle, and Marc Cerra, and their children.
Frank was deeply respected both in the United States and in his beloved Italy. Known for his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering integrity, he became a trusted figure in both communities. Friends, neighbors, and even acquaintances often came to him for guidance, support, and help in times of need. Whether offering advice or lending a hand, Frank was always willing to assist others without hesitation. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, where people knew they would be met with kindness, understanding, and quiet strength. His impact on those around him extended far beyond his family, and his legacy of compassion continues to live on in the many lives he touched.
We will miss him greatly.
Family and friends will be received from 4 PM - 7 PM on Wednesday, July 2, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, CT. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 3, at St. Peter Church, on Main St. in Danbury.

My condolences to the Cerra family. Frank was a great individual, I worked along side with Frank at the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge, he was the President of the lodge and I was President of the corporation. He was very dedicated to helping the lodge and to any member or individual. He always was excited when I called him, unfortunately I now wished I had called him more often. He always greeted you with a handshake and a smile. I will miss him dearly. RIP my friend.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your father. Your father was an extraordinary individual, and I cherish the fond memories we share.
I vividly recall his visits to Montreal with his father and his brother Roberto, and passing great times with my grandfather my father and my uncle Ettore. During our recent phone conversation, he used to say
( you made my day) he was an exceptional person.
Our thoughts and prayers extend to the entire Cerra family during this challenging time.
We offer our unwavering support and strength during this difficult journey.

With love,
Battista & Nathalie Molinaro and family
