Harold Truesdale Obituary

TRUESDALE, HAROLD S.
Harold S. Truesdale, 85, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening following a brief illness. Born in the family homestead on January 23, 1931 to Harold and Mabel (Hickok). Hal attended the one room schoolhouse in Miry Brook and graduated from Henry Abbott Technical School in 1951. He went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War conflict, being honorably discharged in 1954. On September 3, 1956 he married Joan Mannion of Bethel. They were married for 48 years prior to her death in 2004.
In addition to his parents and wife, Hal was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy, who was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 1988 and his two sisters Lila Anderson and Betty Burns. Hal lived a good and honest life, teaching his family through example. His quick wit and sense of humor are gifts that will live on in each of us. Family was first and foremost, giving him great joy.
Left to continue his legacy are two daughters and their husbands, Judith and Barry Rickert and Deborah and Joseph Pacific. Grandchildren Barry and Jessica Rickert, Bryan and Vicki Rickert, Brendan Rickert and fianceé Julianne Cappadona, Stacey Pacific and Ryan Pacific. Great granddaughters Avianna, Stella and Ellie. He leaves behind extended family and many friends.
To honor Hal's wishes, there will be no calling hours. A Mass will be held on Monday, April 11, 10:30 am, at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Road, Ridgefield. Burial will be private. Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
We would like to thank the caregivers, staff, and volunteers at Regional Hospice and Home Care for the exceptional care, concern, and kindness given to Dad and the family during his brief illness. Each of you touched his life in your own way.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hal's memory to Regional Hospice and Home Care, 30 Milestone Road, Danbury, CT 06811 or Mothers Against Drunk Driving, 317 Foxon Road, East Haven, CT 06513

Our condolences to Hal's family. We first met Hal as a neighbor at Ledgewood, but soon came to know about our connections through family, his niece Pam, our cousin Bob, and their friendship with even more of my family. We are grateful to him for his service to Ledgewood, and for his kindness and good humor over the years we knew him.
