Hazel Pitcher Obituary
Hazel Dickinson Pitcher, lifelong Bridgewater resident, passed away at her home on Nov. 3, 2024. She was the widow of Warren R. Pitcher.
Hazel was born on March 28, 1922 in the old New Milford Hospital, daughter of William C. and Mary (Wagner) Dickinson. She grew up on Dickinson Dairy Farm on Townline Road. Hazel attended Bridgewater Center School in the old Grange Hall, Burnham School, and graduated from Booth Free School in Roxbury. She attended Danbury Teacher's College (WestConn). She married Warren in 1942 and they ran E.R. Pitcher & Son Dairy Farm. Hazel worked at Southbury Training School for 25 years. After retirement, she babysat for numerous families in the area.
Hazel was a lifelong member of St. Mark's Church and the Bridgewater Grange. She served on the South Cemetery Board and was Assistant Registrar of Voters and worked at the polls.
Hazel is survived by two sons, Warren of New Milford and William of Bridgewater, and a daughter, Janet Young and her husband Robert of Bridgewater, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by two sisters, Anne Campbell and Louise Greene, and a great-grandaughter, Kristina Jenkins.
Funeral Service will take place on Nov. 11th at St. Mark's Church in Bridgewater at 11:00 a.m. There are no calling hours. Please proceed directly to church. Burial will take place at the South Cemetery following service. Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford has care of Hazel and her family.
Donations may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, the Bridgewater Grange, or the RVNA Hospice.

To Hazel's family, she will be sorely missed by me and so many people. But she gave so many of us wonderful memories. My husband, Leo, and I belonged to the Bridgewater Grange. Hazel and her lady friends were so welcoming and so much fun to be around.
