John Hannah
John Hannah, age 83, a longtime resident of Bethel, CT, passed away peacefully after long battle with cancer on Saturday, December 6th, 2025.
John was born to John and Jean (Jane) Hannah in Glasgow Scotland.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Isabel. He is lovingly remembered by his family; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Patrick Chang, son and daughter-in-law, Derek Hannah and Linda Passaro, his grandsons, Adam, and Jason Chang and his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Joyce Hannah.
John worked as a professional Electrical Engineer for his entire adult life. After retirement, he developed an interest in writing and joined a weekly writing group with whom he shared his embellished anecdotes.
He was a prolific reader, mainly of historical non-fiction and scientific periodicals. He also enjoyed Formula 1 racing and most years made the trip to Limerock Park for Memorial Day racing weekend.
He was always ready to help his loved ones with the goal of teaching you learn how to be successful on your own in the future, however, he was ready to step in when you needed to be taught again.
He has been described as a true gentleman and valued kindness and etiquette. He also enjoyed family dinners and laughing at humorous tales and good-natured family joking.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Greenwood Avenue, Bethel. A funeral service will take place immediately following.
