Joseph Pacific Obituary
Joseph F. Pacific, age 68, of Danbury, CT, passed away on August 26, 2014 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Mary Ellen (Carboni) Pacific.
He was born on October 12, 1945 in Bridgeport, CT, son of the late Joseph F. Pacific and Helen (Harbay) Pacific.
He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Bridgeport, CT. In 1967 he was an alumnus of the first graduating class of Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. He went on to study for his masters at East Tennessee State University.
Joe had several careers - worked in sales, business owner and a Math teacher. Joe began his career as a math teacher in Bethel, CT. and retired from teaching at Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, CT. His passion for teaching was evident to his high school students and adult learners as he prepared them for their future jobs. He encouraged his students to love and embrace the subject of Math.
Joe loved his family and especially his grandchildren who visited their Papa almost every day. Joe was a generous witty man who always brought a smile to those who knew him. He had a keen sense of style and always looked dapper.
Joe was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Yankees and Giants. In addition to his wife of 46 years, he is survived by his son: Timothy Pacific of Danbury, daughter Katharine Cooper (Erik) of Danbury, and his grandchildren; Caitlyn Pacific, Jake, Mackenzie and Anthony Cooper, his brother, Rick Pacific, sister Mary McLaughlin (Dave). Joe is also fondly remembered by his sister-in laws; Francine Carmody, Elizabeth Carboni, Joan & Jack Hughes, Terri & Patrick Carmody, and brother-in law Harry & Sandy Carboni, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.
During his many health issues, Joe never lost his faith in God's will and that sustained him and his family. The family would also like to thank Yale New-Haven Neurosurgical ICU team for their support and compassion during this difficult time. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield, CT on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 4 PM to 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary Church, Ridgefield, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Ridgefield, CT. Friends are asked to kindly omit flowers.

Cousin Andrea extended this Guest Book for 1 year, for people to reflect back, share stories about Joe, and to just talk to him, if you will. Here is my first story:
Today is your birthday! Happy Birthday, Joe!! I remember the one trip I made to Connecticut on your 50th birthday. You had no idea I was coming, and it was a well kept secret.
MaryEllen hid me upstairs, and when you walked in the house, I came down the steps. Oh, how I wish I could repeat the words that came out of your mouth that night when you saw me, but I'm trying to be a lady here, lol.
That was one of so many memorable memories that I will always cherish.
So today, I promise that I will always stay in touch with your family, and give them all the support and love that I can.
It was automatic to pick up the phone today, to call you on your birthday, but this will have to do until we meet again.
I love you, Joe!! And I'm sure in some way, you are celebrating up there with the ones who have passed before us!!

Mary Ellen, I had the honor of teaching with Joe at Abbott Tech for 5 years. He was a great teacher and person. I looked forward to his visits to my classroom each day to talk about baseball. I miss our debates and his ribbing me about being a Red Sox fan and he being a fan of the Yankees. He was loved by the kids and I know he made a big difference in the lives of so many. Please know that you and your family will be in my prayers. Joe was a great teacher and a better person. He will be missed by so many.

I cannot begin to list all the feelings of sadness in my heart right now, but I know Joe is at peace, and that will give me strength. The care that all of you have given to Joe is unsurpassable, and you did so with dignity and respect. No one could ask for anything more.
I will always cherish all the memories of Joe, from my first random trip to Connecticut in the 70's up to now , when I had to say good-bye.
I love all of you and hope that your memories will give you strength and comfort you. I know, with Joe's sense of humor, that we all will be hearing from him, but in a different way.

My sincere condolences go out to the Pacific family. Mr. P was a great teacher and a true role model. It always made me smile when I'd hear his voice behind me in the halls, "hey chooch, get to class." He helped me become a better person which has helped me be the man I am. I'm eternally grateful for his love of teaching and dedication to us, the students. Plus, thanks to him, I learned that only real men wear pink. May God welcome this true gentleman into heaven and may he console the aching hearts of the many lives he touched.
