Kenneth Flynn Obituary

Flynn, Sr., Kenneth P.
Kenneth P. Flynn Sr., 89, of Asheville, NC, formerly of Danbury, husband of Mary (Dwyer) Flynn, died in Asheville, NC on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.
Mr. Flynn was born in Danbury, March 14, 1925, a son of the late John and Ethel (Butler) Flynn. He attended Danbury schools.
A World War II U.S. Army veteran, he served in the India Burma Theater as a Technician Fourth Grade and was a recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. He served from May 1943 to March 1946.
A longtime resident of Danbury, Mr. Flynn owned and operated gasoline service stations on Park Avenue and later Main Street. He then became a Grounds Keeper at Danbury High School before retiring to Florida and then Asheville, NC.
In addition to his wife of sixty-six years, he is survived by seven children, Kenneth Flynn Jr. and his wife Linda of Danbury, Deborah Castro of Stuart, FL, Mary Lou Flynn of Garpuine, TX, Bridget Flynn of California, Edward Flynn of Asheville, NC, Patrick Flynn of Dublin, OH and Timothy Flynn also of Asheville, NC; eight grandchildren, Kevin Flynn and his wife Cecily, Carrie Carlson and her husband David, Christina Castro, Kathleen Flynn, B. Miles Devin, Maggie Castro, Patrick Flynn Jr. and Breon Flynn; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Flynn was predeceased by a son, Richard Flynn, a brother, Edward Flynn and by two sisters, Helen Reynolds and Alice Van Wagner.
Graveside funeral services and burial with Military Honors will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Section 19 of St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
There will be no calling hours.
Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
