L. Rubin Obituary
1934-2021
Dr. L. Robert Rubin peacefully passed away on October 9, 2021 while enjoying a lovely evening with his family. Having been a pediatrician for over forty years in Danbury he enjoyed recognizing or being recognized by former patients or their parents. He almost always remembered their faces and names. He loved life and people and everyone loved Bob. He was non-judgmental as made clear by his very last words to his grandson, Jacob, "always give people the benefit of the doubt". He blessed his family with his optimism and storytelling. Bob loved to read and especially loved volunteering to read to school children as part of The Reading Partner Program. He enjoyed the opera and travel. A man of kindness and warmth, intellect and equanimity.
Following Cornell University Bob proceeded onto State University of New York Medical School and later served as a Captain in the United States Army.
Bob leaves a void in the hearts of his wife Myrna Jacobs-Rubin and his children, Linda, David (Stephanie), Ken, Jodie, (Lane), Margie (Bill), and Elayne, (Jeff). Pop Bob will be missed by his nine grandchildren and Alexis of blessed memory; as well as four great grandchildren.
Our Bob leaves footprints of kindness shown by volunteering for many years at the Hanahoe Clinic, Wow Mobile, Children's First, and his final act of kindness was the donation or his body to Science.

I remember being pregnant with my first child, Madeleine. I met Dr Rubin during a pediatrician interview and immediately fell on love. I went on to have a second daughter, Lauren. To say we adored Dr Rubin is an understatement. His kind, gentle, patient ways. His knowledge and calm. His down to earth manner and his humor. We spent 13 wonderful years with Dr Rubin until he retired. We then kept in touch every year with holiday cards because he was part of our family. He will be missed dearly and will love on in our hearts. The world has lost a lovely soul.

Saddened to hear of Dr. Rubin's passinv. He took care of all my chdre. He was a wise gentle spirit and always encouraged his young patients and their mothers too. We think of him whenever we eat pretzel rods, his gift to his patients.

The passing of Dr. Rubin is a loss that touches the hearts of many in our community. Professionally he was a giant among his peers. His medical office was the medical home for his patients. His empathetic, dedicated and passionate medical services were not limited to his office only as he, for more than a decade, also volunteered at the Wellness On Wheels mobile clinical service. To his patients and peers, Bob was a kind, generous and insightful gentleman and scholar. To me, he made my job easy and his advises were words of wisdom. I missed him immensely. I´m so sorry for your loss. Dr. Rubin was both my pediatrician and my next door neighbor when I was young. He always made doctor´s visits easy. All these years later and I still remember his smile and his kindness.

Dr. Rubin was my Pediatrician as well as my brothers for many years. He was the BEST doctor around. He always remembered our names when he would see us out in the community and was always so loving and kind. My condolences to the family. He will truly be missed!

The kindest and gentlest man ever! And what a way with children. So much so that he had to `kick´ my son out, as a freshman in college, thus proving that is wasn´t just for the pretzel sticks that he wanted to see his favorite doc. Peace and Love to his family.

Linda and Family, We are so sorry to hear of your Dad´s passing. He was our pediatrician. A wonderful one. This was back when he made house calls. He detected my heart issue as a baby came to our home. A very kind and caring man. Would see him out occasionally through the years always asked for my brothers by name even after all these years! We hope your wonderful memories will help at such a difficult time. He will be remembered fondly by many that had the pleasure of knowing him .

Dr Rubin was my doctor as well as my children doctor until they could no longer be seen by him but he let them go until the last one turn 18, I think that´s when he retired. We all loved him and he will be missed by many. So sorry for your loss prayers to the family. RIP Dr. Rubin
